The house features a comprehensive (smoke, fire, burglary, and cold temperature) station-monitored security system. Strobe lights on each gable end light up the house at night and two amplified wailing Banshee sirens wake the dead. The Carmel Police Department and Mahopac Fire Department are less than two miles away and respond quickly, and a fully-equipped hospital (Putnam Community) is also less than three miles away. There is a neighborhood association. Our neighbors are quiet, civilized, and friendly.

There is no radon or asbestos hazard. All old paint has been frequently painted over. A floor drain in the basement leads to a drywell outside in the unusual case of a flooding emergency (frozen pipes, etc). All electrical outlets near water sources are electric-shock protected.
