This house is located midway on Croton Falls Road between Mahopac and Croton Falls in a neighborhood of one-family homes. Croton Falls Road is a sparsely-developed road that winds over and through the wooded and protected New York City Watershed land. It is one of the most scenic roads in the area. Driving west toward Route 6 and the town of Mahopac, the road gradually winds through the woods along a series of curves bordering a forest stream; if you drive east toward Croton Falls, Route 684 and the Metro North train station, you cross over beautiful undeveloped sections of the West Branch of the Croton Falls Reservoir and River, both noted waters for excellent trout and fishing. A circle of roads leading from the house around the East Branch of the Croton Falls reservoir, without exaggeration, offers breathtaking vistas of sky, light, water, and woods at all times of the year - especially one section of causeway over 1/4 mile long. It is simply and utterly beautiful. We have been known to indulge in unauthorized bathing at a secluded swimming hole within easy walking distance of the house. We keep a rowboat on the reservoir for fishing and just poking around. Where else can you live a Suburban life-style amid a sparsely to moderately populated yet virtually wild area of forests, lakes and streams?
